About me:

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist experienced in working with a wide range of mental health problems and emotional distress. I help people to overcome their difficulties by working together with them and drawing on their own strengths. I offer therapy in a warm, safe and non-judgemental space using individualised evidence-based approaches.

Most of my experience has been in working with long standing and complex mental health difficulties. Other experiences include:  Clinical lead for a DBT team; working with, children in foster care, helping families with attachment difficulties, and working with children with autism and learning disabilities. I am also passionate about attending to both mind and body when addressing mental health and well-being and if appropriate I incorporate this in therapeutic work.

Difficulties I currently work with include:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (for single or multiple traumas)
  • Mood difficulties (e.g. depression, mood instability)
  • Anxiety disorders (e.g. OCD, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety)
  • Personality disorders
  • Self-harming behaviours
  • Eating difficulties
  • Low self-esteem
  • Chronic Pain and fatigue

My approach:

My style is flexible and informal. I do not work to a rigid framework, as I believe in tailoring my style to your need.   At our first meeting we will discuss how you view your difficulties and how you would like to work with me and what you want to get out of therapy. We can think together about what sort of approach would suit you best. I normally suggest that we meet weekly, but that is not fixed in stone.

The main models I use are: Schema Focussed Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
